We have plenty of projects that need passionate people to lead and/or participate in. Please get in touch and let us know how you can help, we would love to have you onboard.
Have you got extra time to volunteer with us? From painting & plastering, to flyering or ushering, to social media and fundraising, we are in search of energetic people to volunteer with us. There is plenty to do, so if you have a special interest or talent that you think would be useful, please do get in touch!
Why does The Grand Pavilion need your help?
We have grand plans, but as a charity we have limited resources, we simply can’t deliver everything we aim to do without the help of our volunteers.
Our aim is to restore the The Grand Pavilion in Matlock Bath to its former position as a thriving destination for locals & tourists – to futureproof the building as a community-focussed, sustainable hub for appreciating the arts and our stunning natural environment.
We have a lovely family of volunteers who contribute to the various projects that are crucial to the running of this building. We would love for you to join us!
Where?
Work with us here – at The Grand Pavilion, deliver flyers while out on your daily walk or share our social media posts from the comfort of your home. We are happy to support you in however you would like to volunteer with us. We sometimes need help at local markets selling our delicious Café-made chutneys and own-brand coffees, teas and selection of Peak Ales!
When?
We’re open most days of the year except Christmas day, and with a variety of roles available, there is always something to get involved with. Your volunteering commitment depends on the role you do, and we try and be as flexible as possible so it can work alongside any other commitments you already have.

We are currently hiring for the following roles:
Part-Time Volunteer Coordinator
The Grand Pavilion is growing — and we’re looking for someone brilliant to help us support and celebrate the volunteers and members who make our venue come alive.
We’re recruiting a Volunteer Coordinator to lead volunteer recruitment, induction, scheduling, and ongoing support. You’ll also oversee our Friends of the Grand Pavilion membership scheme, helping members feel connected, valued, and part of our story.
What the role involves
• Welcoming and onboarding new volunteers
• Creating rotas and supporting volunteers at events
• Keeping volunteers and members informed and engaged
• Helping grow our Friends membership scheme
• Representing the Pavilion at community events
• Ensuring good record-keeping and compliance
We’re looking for someone who
• Has experience in volunteer coordination, community engagement, or people
management
• Communicates brilliantly and builds positive relationships
• Is organised, supportive, and great with people
• Can work flexibly, including occasional evenings/weekends

The Grand Pavilion is a landmark community venue in the heart of Matlock Bath, housed in one of Derbyshire’s most distinctive historic buildings. Run by The Grand Pavilion Trading Company Ltd on behalf of our charitable parent organisation, we exist to bring people together through arts, culture, heritage, and community activity.Our mission is simple: to create a welcoming, inclusive space where people can connect, participate, and feel part of something bigger. Job Description – Casual Events Staff Bank
Job Title
Casual Events Staff (Bar, Front of House, Event Support, Duty Manager)
Pay
- £12.75 per hour for Bar, Front of House, and Event Support roles
- £13.25 per hour for Duty Manager shifts
- Paid monthly on the 1st of each month
Hours
Casual, mainly Friday and Saturday evenings, with additional shifts during busy periods.

About The Grand Pavilion
The Grand Pavilion is a historic, community-led music and events venue delivering an ambitious and expanding programme of live entertainment. We are building a flexible Casual Events Staff Bank to support our growing calendar of gigs, theatre, comedy, festivals, and community events.
This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of an iconic venue, gain hands‑on experience in live event operations, work alongside a passionate and supportive team, and enjoy incredible performances while getting paid.
Purpose of the Role
Casual staff provide essential on‑the‑night support across bar operations, front-of-house, technical assistance, and event coordination. Shifts are offered through our staff bank on a flexible, first-come-first-served basis.
Key Responsibilities
Bar Staff
- Serve drinks efficiently and accurately
- Deliver excellent customer service
- Apply Challenge 25 procedures
- Maintain clean, safe, well-stocked bar areas
- Work confidently in a fast-paced environment
Front of House (FOH)
- Welcome guests and check tickets
- Direct visitors and answer queries
- Support customer wellbeing and accessibility needs
- Follow venue safety protocols
- Maintain smooth audience flow throughout events
Event Support / Tech Assist
- Assist technical crew with simple tasks
- Support equipment movement and changeovers
- Communicate between bar, FOH, tech, and artist liaison
- Maintain awareness of backstage and public areas
Duty Manager (Casual) – £13.25ph
- Oversee event operations from setup to close-down
- Act as the link between bar, FOH, tech, artist management, and security
- Handle customer enquiries and resolve issues
- Ensure safety, licensing, and operational procedures are followed
- Provide calm, confident leadership during busy events
Person Specification
Essential
- Reliable, punctual, and professional

Desirable
- Experience in hospitality, events, or customer service
- Experience in venue operations or duty management

How the Staff Bank Works
- Shifts are offered via Sling, our rota and communication platform
- You can accept or decline shifts based on your availability
- No minimum hours commitment
- Training and induction provided
